James Marsh, Web and Intranet Advisor, National Grid said
"National Grid were implementing a new website within a completely new technical infrastructure so we wanted to test how the site would perform under both ordinary day to day and exceptional circumstances. We have to be sure that a one-off significant 'high traffic' event wouldn't cause the website to fail. We must have the confidence that if a one-off significant 'high traffic' event happens, the website will remain in service.
"The product set is fantastic because it delivers exactly what it said it would. It enabled us to test what and whenever we want to. The web support team is based in many different locations and this can often cause problems with communications and collaborative working on issues. Having an online load testing product meant we could all share the data immediately so those issues went away. The product is very intuitive and it's easy to find your way around.
"The test highlighted a number of problems we might not have anticipated until we went live and because you get data for every single click you can see what the problem is, what caused it and how to fix it. We are now confident that the new website will be able to handle significant events and on a daily basis it will operate more smoothly and efficiently for the user. We are now factoring load testing into our overall site maintenance, alongside our regular security checks.
"It's competitively priced too. As a regulated business, we have to make sure we get real value for money and the load testing product from Site Confidence certainly delivers value."
